Iron Knob is 65 km from Port Augusta just off of National Highway One. The Highway used to pass through the town but was re-routed around it many years ago. You can also get to Iron Knob from Whyalla and it is about 51 km's between the two towns.
Iron Knob has a Post Office and a Rural Transaction Centre plus a Tourist Information Centre and Museum. You will also find: Free camping area with a fully equipped 'bush kitchen, toilets, shower and playground.
A donation for the use of these facilities helps us maintain and improve our services. All facilities are maintained by the tireless efforts of our towns volunteers who not only work on these areas but assist with the overall running of the town as we have no local council body to oversee these things.
