Iron Knob is about 65 km from Port Augusta just off of National Highway One. The Highway used to pass through the town but was re-routed around it many years ago. You can also get to Iron Knob from Whyalla and it is about 51 km's between the two towns.
Iron Knob has a Service Station, Post Office and a Rural Transaction Centre plus a Tourist Information Centre and Museum.You will also find: Free camping area with Bush Kitchen, toilets, shower and playground (donation for use of facilities is always welcome).
Don't forget to visit the Iron Knob Tourist Centre whilst in town and why not take advantage of the Mine and Town Tour. Iron Knob is the place to stop and take a break when travelling on Highway One.
